324 Lamarque Street:

New residence on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain adjacent to lot 320 Lamarque Street. Same client as 320 Lamarque desired a traditional design like the modest early 20th century cottages in the Mandeville Historic District for this site. New construction must comply with Base Flood Elevation that required a first floor five feet above grade, which is considerably higher than the early houses. Soil conditions require pile foundations and historic guidelines discourage bare piles for traditional designs. Thus, we detailed a cladding surrounding the piles to simulate the stuccoed/masonry piers of the historic neighbors.
